O.K. so you've had a great day - found a bag of mediaeval verdigris treasures - they've been through the wash and brush up - next day they dry out, powder and flake. Nightmare.

STRANGER ENCOUNTERS

LOCATION: Newborough

GIST: Another day on the beach. Tinkling voices in the sand hills - yummy mummies and a bevy of golden haired model offspring - a vision of voluminous hair and cotton thread legs.

The one in green chiffon is prancing in the long grasses gazing out to sea - then freezes as I cross her line of vision heavily laden with plastic bags, drift wood and fisherman’s nets.

SHE: (Screeching, pointing in my direction) “Take nothing from this place. Bring only your love and leave behind only your footprints in the sand.”

ME: “Be still fragrant one, enjoy your day and then go in peace to your 4x4. I am actually cleaning up the beach, thus making the world a better place for you to dream in.”
